Interventions at the OSCE HDIM

Europe’s largest annual human rights conference took place in Warsaw at Sofitel hotel from September 22 to October 3, 2014. The Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM) organized by the OSCE/ODIHR brought together more than 1200 government officials, international experts, civil society representatives and human rights activists from more than 40 states to discuss the implementing of the core values that promote respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

EaPMN members, civil society representatives from Ukraine and Georgia also took part in the discussions and made their interventions during the conference. There have been 4 interventions made on behalf of the network focusing on the issues related to increased xenophobia and intolerance towards minorities in Georgia, discrimination of Roma communities in Georgia and Ukraine, as well as on the pattern of ongoing intimidation and threats against indigenous and minority activists and leaders from occupied Crimea.

EaPMN partners have also organized side event on 29th of September addressing minority rights, conflict and reconciliation policies.  The role of states and civil society during conflicts has been discussed during the discussion.
